Happy HeatWave

Both Melissa and Kayla have an obsession with the number 100. They LOVE all things 100. I cannot fully explain their excitement a few days ago when they saw the temperature reading in the van reach 100. Though I was driving they BEGGED me to take a picture... So, at the stoplight, I snapped a picture of the 100*.
A few minutes later Melissa began squealing with delight as she saw that the temperature went OVER 100 and again BEGGED me to take a picture. (pay no attention to the speedometer, I was clearly not stopped while taking the next 3 pictures...)
More happy laughter at 102*! By this time Abbie was also laughing as the numbers went up...
We were in heavy traffic for a picture of 103, but here is 104*.
My Amelia Bedelia, I mean Melissa, was a little hesitant to get out of the van in 104* weather as she had heard me say earlier in the week that we were going to absolutely melt when the temperature reached 100*. She takes things quite literally, and we convinced the end was near. It may have been with the heat index at 115*!!
I love my little number obsessed girls... they keep me smiling!

An attempt to calm myself...

This is a rose that Melissa gave me after spending the entire day being disrespectful and disobedient. She KNEW she had made bad decisions ALLLL day and wanted to "make up for it". It worked. :)
Lately, in an effort not to blow up, I have been taking pictures of things that I come across as a result of my children being mischievous. Like this rock in the bathroom... I remove the rock and somehow the rock ALWAYS returns! Or this lovely diamond on the bathroom mirror. Yep, it's made from a soaked toilet paper roll. This happens at LEAST once a week. I would like to think it is soaked with water from the SINK and not the toilet...
This new picture thing I am doing DOES help. I have to go find the camera, walk back to the "scene of the crime" AND take the picture. By the time I am done, I have cooled off and can talk to the girls with a calm voice. I just need to remember to take more pictures!

Easter pics

For those of you not brave (or bored) enough to watch the entire Easter video, here are a few of my favorite photos from our weekend. :)

Easter 2011

The following is a LONG video from EASTER. I am REALLY behind on my updates. Grrr.. I will catch up sometime! The happenings are a little out of order, but you will get the idea!'

Time with the Greats...

I feel incredibly blessed to have all of my Grandparents in my life and even more blessed to have them in the lives of my children. My Grandparents have always been a source of strength and stability in my life and I am thankful the Lord saw fit to allow me to be a part of their families.
This is Melissa and Kayla with Grandma Nanny, my Mom's Mom. Anytime we go to visit my parents they get together with Grandma Nanny and have lunch with just her and Grandma... Mommy isn't allowed! :) They love looking at her tins of buttons, her sea shells, her pictures, her tiny bathroom... you know, all of those things that make Great Grandmas neat.
The following pictures are my girls with Grandma and Papa Senior, my Dad's parents. They go to my parents house once a week to eat "supper" and to visit. We were lucky enough to be there when they came over. We had spaghetti and Papa Sr. put ketchup on his. He has always done this and apparently it is the ONLY thing he will put ketchup on! LOL My girls thought it was hilarious and Kayla requested ketchup on her spaghetti the next time we had it! (Which she didn't like!) It took a little while, but Abbie finally "warmed up" to Papa Sr. and let him hold her and play with her. She LOVED him! He got a kick out of her saying "papapapapa" too!
On Fridays Grandma and Papa Sr. go to McDonald's for breakfast and Grandma and Poppa took Melissa and Kayla with them while we were visiting. The girls were in HEAVEN! G-ma and Papa Sr. loved showing off the girls and Melissa and Kayla loved the time with them!
These grandparents of mine are pretty amazing. They have always been a HUGE part of my life and I am thankful my girls are being blessed by having them in their lives also. We love you!
