The Swine Flu

I am happy to report that we are all survivors of the Swine Flu. The dreaded, much talked about, greatly covered by the local and national news, swine flu has hit our family and is slowly leaving our home. We have been sick for about 2 weeks and are FINALLY starting to feel better. I wouldn't have known it was the dreaded H1N1 if Melissa hadn't been hanging onto her cough for what seemed like an eternity. I took her to the doctor, who ran a snot test, and confirmed that Melissa did, indeed, have the swine flu. She said that since we had all been feeling horrible and had the same symptoms, we had all probably had it and it was on it's way out of our family. We still have coughs and some congestion, but other than that, I think we are on the mend. Finally.

Alphabet Stomp!

We had SO much fun playing "Alphabet Stomp" this morning. I completely stole the idea from a website I found the other day. It was super easy to make and the girls LOVE it. Ray and I made 26 footprints out of foam. We put one letter, upper case and lower case, on each footprint (we wrote them on both sides to reduce frustration if they were flipped over). And that was it. When we played I started by asking the girls to step on certain letters. Then I had them step on the letters that make the "___" sound, then the ones that start different words, etc. I even had Kayla step on the different colors... she LOVED that part. :) Towards the end Melissa was spelling different words with the footprints. When we were finished we put them back into the bag in order. I would recommend this game to everyone!

Pumpkin painting..

We painted pumpkins with Grandma and Poppa while we were at their house this past weekend. It was SO fun for my tired, tired little girls. We didn't paint them until just before bedtime, so they were exhausted. They painted beautiful pumpkins! And their fingernails, and their hands, and their fingers, and the table... well, you get the point. They had a blast! We will turn them into jack-o-lanterns closer to Halloween. That reminds me, I guess I should decorate for Halloween!

++ for Homeschool

These pictures are good examples of why I love homeschooling my girls.
Melissa and Kayla pick out their own clothes before school each morning and this is an example of what they come up with.
Melissa LOVES this look!
Kayla is wearing a shirt under a jean jumper, two dress-up dresses, wings and a pioneer hat. You can't see her pretty socks, but she was quite proud of those too! I feel so blessed to be their mommy.

Zzzzzzz

When I came home from Young Women's a few nights ago this is what I found at the top of the stairs. No, she didn't fall out of bed. She was determined to stay awake but didn't quite make it. This is her dazed look while getting back into bed. This one of Kayla was just too cute... I had to include it! I have to de-treasure her bed every night so that she doesn't roll over onto something that will hurt her! My girls are TOO cute!
