Melissa's Request

Melissa is obsessed with us having a baby boy! She doesn't understand why there isn't a baby in mommy's tummy. Today she informed me that she doesn't want just any brother... she wants a black baby brother. WHAT?? She said, "I don't want a brother with skin like me and Kayla. I want a brother with beautiful, black skin." She then smiled and walked away!!! Hmmm... any suggestions? We DO want to adopt one day, but it won't be any time soon. I am not ready to have THE talk with my four year old... for now I said, "Heavenly Father will send us the perfect baby for our family." She didn't like that answer.

The Food Dance

We still jump through hoops to get our girls to eat. The following is from Sunday afternoon lunch. Enjoy!

Transplanting Pumpkin Seeds

2 months ago Kayla planted some pumpkin seeds and this morning we finally transplanted them to an outside container. She was SO pleased with herself! She is quite the little gardener.

Easter Weekend 2009

We ended up going to Grandma and Poppa's house for Easter weekend and really enjoyed spending time with everyone. The girls decorated eggs with cousin Evan and on Saturday we had an Easter Egg hunt for the kiddos and THEN my mom and dad hid eggs for all of their adult children. It was a blast! We are so blessed to have such a good family!

Easter Morning

This is a picture of our little family on Easter Morning before we pilled back into the car and headed home. I am so blessed.

Mailing the Paci

Well, we did it. We FINALLY mailed Kayla's paci. My VERY compassionate Kayla decided it would be okay to mail her paci to a baby who didn't have a paci. Both of my girls are mortified by the idea that some children are not as fortunate as they are and occasionally, we use this to our advantage(when it is time to clean out closets or the playroom, etc.) So, today Kayla decorated an envelope with stickers and pictures, we addressed it To: The baby without a passie and she put it in the mailbox. Yippee!! She isn't handling it as well as Melissa did. As I write this she is upstairs crying and crying trying to go to sleep. We will go to Toys R' Us on Monday to get her a "reward." Happy times! :)

Dressing themselves

The girls decided to pick out their clothes and dress themselves for our trip to the store this morning. This is what they came up with... Aren't they cute?

Kayla is Potty Trained!!

I am officially declaring Kayla POTTY TRAINED!!!! She has not had an accident for the past several days and the final test came today... I took the girls shoe shopping (without a diaper) and she told me EACH time she had to use the potty. YIPPEE! This box of diapers will be our last! She keeps saying, "I am so proud of myself." :) too cute. We have had a "busy" week... and it is only Tuesday. The girls are starting to become more and more mischievous. As I was watching Oprah yesterday Kayla came in with her face, arms and hands COVERED in peanut butter. No joke. Covered. Four times last week I found the girls hiding chugging the bottle of honey... I need to get a lock for the pantry door. I do feed them regularly, I guess it isn't often enough. Last night during Family Home Evening the girls were blowing us away with their knowledge of the Resurrection. Example: Ray said, "What is a sepulchre?" Melissa said, "It is like a cave." They were BOTH able to explain why Jesus died and why the Resurrection is so important. The girls are so smart. Ray and I are very blessed.

Preparing Now...

We just had the BEST time reading books! When I was in Atlanta I bought the book "My Wedding Day" by Deborah Pace Rowley and read it to the girls. It is a story told to a little girl by her Daddy about the day she is sealed to her sweetheart in the Temple. It is AMAZING! My girls are so excited to be sealed in the Temple one day! We followed up with taking turns wearing Mommy's wedding dress. They LOVED it!
