Goodbye Paci!

Had I known it was going to be so easy, Melissa's paci would have been gone a LONG time ago! Several days ago I told Melissa that we were going to mail her paci to a baby who didn't have one. She said okay, but when the time came to actually do it, she had a HUGE melt down! So, I let her keep it until this past Monday thinking that Daddy would be home to give ME some support with the situation. We decorated a cute envelope and then I told Melissa that it was time to put the paci into the envelope so that we could mail it. She COMPLETELY lost it. She cried and cried and cried and cried. She kept kissing her paci and talking to it. She told it she was going to miss it. She kept sucking on it, "one last time!" She kissed it some more. Eventually she VERY reluctantly put the paci in the envelope and we sealed it closed with stickers. We put it on the fridge for 2 days "in case of an emergency" and she hasn't asked for it since! After being "paci free" for 5 days, she received a "reward" from Toys R Us yesterday. She picked out a new movie. I am so proud of her! BTW, my theory about Ray being there for support didn't work out... Kayla fell and bumped her head and cried through the WHOLE paci episode! Oh well... at least he was there.

Daddy is so "crafty"

We came downstairs yesterday morning to find these on the front porch with a trail of peanuts leading to them. Evidently an elephant escaped from the local circus, broke into our house, stole our jar of peanuts, ate some, made a HUGE mess with them, and fell asleep with his friend monkey on our front porch! WOW! What an adventure he must have had!

Kayla Helps Us Clean Up...

I have been working on the computer HEAPS lately with church stuff and the girls have brought toy after toy into the upstairs hall to play beside me while I work. Last night I told Kayla that we needed to clean up the hall so that Daddy could walk through and this is what she did! She was SOOOO pleased with herself. She threw every toy down the stairs and when she finished put her hands on her hips and said, "Whew. Done!" She smiled a HUGE smile and went on her way. It was SO cute! She is quite the helper.

"My Little Pony"

We have SO much fun playing together! These are some of the outfits that we picked up at Disney World. The girls are SO fun and sneaky right now... they get into EVERYTHING and sometimes I have a hard time keeping up with them. The other day Melissa CHUGGED the honey while I was on the phone with Terry and had to lay down with a "puke cloth" because we just knew she was going to puke! Kayla used a book of stamps as stickers and both girls painted "animals" on their fingers and arms with markers. I really do watch and nurture my children... they are just so darn SNEAKY!

"I need to call Grandma"

Our family has been passing around a horrible virus for the past 2 weeks and it is finally my turn to have it. I started feeling bad Wednesday evening and woke up Thursday feeling pretty yucky. By Friday I was down for the count and kept telling myself that I just needed to make it until 6:30 when Ray would be home to take care of the girls. Well, obviously I wasn't doing a very good job taking care of them because Melissa told me around 3:00 that she needed to talk to Grandma. I called my mom and handed her the phone and Melissa proceeded to tell Grandma that Mommy was grumpy! If I hadn't been so sick I would probably still be laughing! Grandma comforted her and told her a "Chee Chee" story (a monkey from my childhood stories) and Melissa was soon happy again reading to Kayla like Chee Chee read to his mommy and sister. Thanks Grandma!
