Remember this day...
I went to the doctor on Friday and told him about the story that Melissa told me about having a baby brother. He laughed and told me to write it down so that when she is 12 and that baby brother is really bugging her I can remind her that she personally asked angels for that brother so she can't complain. So, Melissa... this is your reminder.

An angel told me...
For the past several weeks Melissa has been wrapping up random "presents" and giving them to me for our future baby. This morning she found a pretty red box, placed several toys inside and gave it to me saying, "This is for my new baby brother." I said, "Honey, Mommy doesn't have a baby in her tummy right now." She looked devastated and said, "Well, you will soon." When I asked her how she knew I would have a baby in my tummy soon she said, "An angel told me. He said I am going to have a baby brother soon." She smiled and hugged me asking, "Isn't that good news?"

Mermaid Kayla
For the Birds
We went to D.C. last weekend and forgot about a poor, yucky loaf of french bread that we brought back with us. We couldn't let the moldy thing go to waste after we remembered about it, so, the girls fed it to the birds (and pregnant cat) in the rain. They loved it!!!
(Please don't tell the girls the cats are pregnant... we are going to help them "move on" before they leave us with babies!)
Melissa and Daddy-O
Melissa is such a hard worker! She went out to the garden with Daddy on Saturday and helped him so much! She pulled weeds, carried out HUGE rocks, pushed the tiller and even helped to push Daddy while he pushed the tiller. WOW! The best part was her smile... she smiled the whole time she was working. She is such a ray of sunshine.
Kayla's new friend, the Worm... worms... oopps!
Kayla made a new friend on Saturday while we were working in the garden, his name was Worm. We found several worms and after she finally built up enough nerve to touch one, she fell in love with those yucky little things. She carried one around with her for a long time and when it came time for me to take a picture of it she quickly ran away working buisily with her little hands. By the time I got to her she was so pleased with herself and showed me what she had done... she said, "Here, I made more worms for you to see!" She was so happy with her new worms. One worm was now 4. She is so cute!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
Happy St. Patrick's Day! When we woke up this morning we found green footprints leading to little baggies of GOLD! Yippee!!! Melissa and Kayla were so excited to find that inside the gold was CHOCOLATE!!! Melissa said, "This is better than money!" What a fun day this is going to be! (This is a tradition that I started with my preschool classes when I was still teaching... I will probably do it forever!)

Chuck E. Cheese's
Uncle Adam and Tia Ria invited us to go to Chuck E. Cheese's with them for Uncle Adam's Birthday and we LOVED it! He is now as old as Mommy... :) We are so fourtunate to have such a good family. Enjoy the video!
Riding Horses
Poppa took my girls, Evan, Tia Ria, Uncle Jer and myself horseback riding while we were visiting. We are fortunate enough to know a great lady, the girls affectionately call her Ms. Jo, who allows us to go out and ride her horses while we are there. The LOVE it! This time one of the goats had just had twins the night before and the girls and Evan went crazy over them. It is sad to think that this cute little thing will be someone's dinner in a few years! Yum! LOL!
Thanks for the fun times Poppa Bear!
Flower Girl Dresses
While visiting Grandma and Poppa my girls and New Melissa went to look at flower girl dresses for the upcoming wedding of New Melissa to Uncle Glenn. They only tried on one dress, but still felt like little princesses! They were dancing around, doing runway walks, twirling, posing, etc. They had so much fun! Melissa and Kayla are completly in love with "New" Melissa. She already feels like she is part of the family. Sometimes when we sit around as a family we feel like someone is missing... we don't know who, but we just don't feel complete. Melissa has helped us feel more "complete" as a family. We love her SO much!

Sweet sleep
Ray and I tease my mom saying that she is passive aggressive... she says she just comes up with different ways to get people to do what needs to be done. Whatever it is, it has definately been passed on to my children. It is 9pm, the girls are still awake and the two of us are literally exhausted. We are just waiting to crash until they are asleep. The two girls have been calling and calling and calling us to come to their room, but we were not going to give in until.......
5 minutes ago Melissa poked her head into our room (on the way back to bed from the potty) and said, "Daddy, we would like to invite you into our room to sleep." Picture her big cheesey smile! Ray couldn't resist the invitation and went to their room where Melissa offered him her blanket and said, "Just make yourself comfortable."
They are too funny!
Snowpeople.
Snow March 2009
We finally had some "real" snow! My sister pointed out that blog pictures have gone from snow to 70* weather to more snow! "Crazy Southern Weather!"
It started snowing last night around 7pm and by 9:30 the power was going in and out. Around 11pm I woke Ray up to help me find some flashlights and by 1:30am the power was completely out. YIKES! Ray woke up at 3am to get ready for work and started a fire in the fireplace which warmed up the house until we got up at 7:30. The girls were SO excited to look out and see all of the snow! We have at least 6 inches and they were very impatient to go out and play... but, I wanted us to wait until the power came back on so we could actually warm up when we came in! The girls were good sports and we read some books, wrote letters and drew pictures for my cousin in the MTC, etc. but, eventually Kayla asked to watch t.v. I told her it wouldn't work and she said, "Yes, you just have to push REALLY hard like this!" And began pushing her fingers together really hard. She is so funny!
Around 9:30 we went upstairs to find our gloves and scarves and Kayla said, "I will turn on the lamp for us." Mommy said, "It isn't going to work, sweetheart. The electricity is gone for a bit." Kayla said, "Yes, it will work." ~ No joke, the moment she flipped the switch the power came back on and we were AMAZED!! She started running around saying, "I'm a miracle! I'm a miracle! I fixed the lights! I'm a miracle!" Melissa was giving her high-fives and they were both jumping up and down. Now, was this the faith of a child, or a coincidence? I say it was Kayla's faith that turned out lights back on!
We did go out to play after that and made snow angels, ran around, threw snowballs etc. At one point Kayla took off her gloves and when I asked her to put them back on she said, "I simply cannot work in these conditions!" (what???) Out of the mouths of babes.
