Making a gift for Mommy

Ray took the girls to a Lowe's "Learn and Grow" workshop where they were able to make Mommy a planter box. They LOVED it! Evidently the other children were not very good listeners, but thankfully ours were! They loved spending time with Daddy building things. They were so proud to give them to me Mother's Day morning. I LOVE them! I will have to take a picture of the finished products and post that too. (These are not in order... I am too tired to figure out how to post them in order today!)

Wednesday's Storm

This past Wednesday we had a very fast moving, very harsh storm come through our area. As a result one of the trees on our property line was uprooted and knocked down. Ray was standing on the front porch and heard a loud cracking sound... that of the tree falling and the fence snapping. Fun times. The girls were a little unsettled that a storm could knock over something so tall and Melissa has had a hard time sleeping through the past few storms we have had since then. It is amazing what Mother Nature can do.
Soon after the storm began we lost power and were without electricity until around midnight. The girls had no trouble finding things to do to pass their time. We played Hullabaloo, read books, walked around outside and played together nicely. They also decided to use some of their tools to peel paint off of a little chair that we affectionately call the "Helper Chair" as they use it to help me with dishes, cooking, putting away groceries, etc. They are very helpful!

Our MVP

We have REALLY enjoyed Melissa's first year of T-Ball. She joined the Patriots through our homeschool group and met every Friday to practise and learn the game. She caught on very quickly and impressed us with her amazing skills. We are SO proud of you Melissa!

Fun at the Park

Ray took off of work the other day to watch Melissa play T-Ball. She was SO excited to have Daddy-O there. After her practise we stopped by a park to play for a bit. These are some pictures from our little visit.

99 cents

A couple of weeks ago I sent our LARGE play Kitchenette to my Mom's house to add to her "Grandchild" toys. The girls had lost interest in it and it was really too big to keep around for occasional play. So, I went to eBay and found this cute little stove that I had been eyeing at Toys R'Us. At the store it sells for $59. On eBay, I paid 99cents for a new one. Yep. $0.99. Heehee.. I feel like I robbed someone! The girls have played with it for hours everyday since it arrived last week. I am one happy Mama!

Oh, The Joys of Parenthood!

The girls have been up to MUCH mischief this week! They had an impromptu water day that Mommy didn't know about until it was too late... which included filling a guitar case with water! Grrrr... Had I known it was going to be a water day, I would have provided them with some non-damaging water play. Oh well... such are the joys of parenthood. The following are just some random pictures from the past 2 weeks or so.
Kayla LOVES, LOVES, LOVES to do her nails, hair and make-up. She wears this dress every day as soon as it comes out of the dryer! This is her drying her fingernails after she painted them (and most of her fingers too!)
Melissa decided to hold a yard sale for me and Kayla to come and purchase anything we wanted! She has never been to a yard sale, and to my knowledge, has never helped with one. However, she instinctively knew to put stickers on everything she was selling! Jen and Laura came up for a few days last week and we LOVED the time with them! We went to Target one afternoon and Evan became sick just before we got there. He kept asking for a bucket to puke in. Laura went to my van and brought back the puke bucket that we keep in there for emergencies. Poor little guy. He kept his head in that bucket for a long, long time and did eventually puke! After that he kept the bucket with him through the rest of the store.
Here is a random picture Melissa took. She was VERY pleased with the stacking job she did with the cereal we scored at Rite-Aid. I think we are set for cereal for the next 2 months or so...
And here is a silly picture of Melissa at the dentist. It makes me smile.
I really do enjoy being their Mom... they make my life very interesting!

Our Cutie Patooties

I snapped some pictures of the girls as they were coming home from church today. Aren't they beautiful?
For 2 days the girls have been "Super Spies" and have gone around spying on Ray and Me. Kayla uses this magnifying glass to see where we have been and what we have been up to. Melissa carries a voice recorder to capture "important information" about us. They are SO funny!

Kayla's favorite things...

Kayla absolutely LOVES to fix her hair and put on make-up. Combine the two and you have a completely happy girl! I snapped a few pictures of her latest "creation" from this afternoon. Enjoy! (The red on and under her nose are actually scratches from a fall yesterday and not lipstick like the rest of the red on her face.)

Sunday Afternoon Fun...

We decided to take advantage of the BEAUTIFUL weather and Ray's being off of work yesterday and took the girls outside to ride their bike and scooter. The bike is Kayla's and the scooter is Melissa's. Melissa is a PRO on the bike and Kayla is a PRO on the scooter. Heehee... Melissa is in desperate need of a bike - one that is her size... but that will have to wait a bit longer. They had so much fun whizzing down the street past me in my good ole' chair. They are such cuties!
Kayla is trying to get the hang of making the bike go in the direction she wants it to go!
Oops! Not quite! Kayla was SO tired.. she decided to just watch Sissy:
Melissa flying past Mommy:
Look at that happy face! She was so pleased with herself.
