Kayla's 2 year photo shoot

These pictures are from Kayla's 2 year old photo shoot. We try to take the girls as close to their birthdays so we can "capture" what they look like. There are some of both girls at the end. Enjoy!

Kayla's 2nd Birthday

Kayla is 2 years old today! Time is going by so fast and I don't know how to make it slow down! I feel so old when I say things like, "It seems like only yesterday," but it really does seem like only yesterday that Ray and I were picking her birthday and writing it on every calendar in the house. She has blessed our family so very much. She has such a happy, joyous personality and she walks around the house lighting up every room with her little songs. I am so thankful that the Lord sent her to us. Happy Birthday, Kayla Brooke!

Visit with Tia Ria and Evan

Tia Ria and Evan stayed with us this past week while Uncle Adam was in PA and we had SOOO much fun! The first picture goes to show that mommies will do just about ANYTHING to get out of the house for a bit... it took 4 tries, but I finally figured out how to fit 3 carseats in the back of our car. We had fun at "Toys R Us". The second picture is of Tia Ria playing "My Little Ponies" with Melissa and Kayla. The funny part is, the two little ones stopped playing after a few minutes and Tia kept playing all by herself... and LOVED it! I know what she should get for Christmas! Thanks for coming up guys! We love you!

The Melissa Cooking Show

The following is a small section from "The Melissa Cooking Show" that goes on everytime she helps mommy cook. Enjoy!

Gardening 2008

It is offical. Some people (me) will make a montage about ANYTHING! I made a little montage below of our garden and some of the yummy things we are doing with the veggies. We have been blessed and all of the hardwork is starting to pay off. I LOVE growing things and the past two weekends (before and after girl's camp) my mom has taught me how to can all sorts of things. Thanks mom!

Girl's Camp 2008

I survived YW Girl's Camp!! I actually had a really good time. The Lord sustained me and gave me the strength and energy to endure the entire week! The 10 girls that I went with from our ward were amazing! They all got along really well and all of our testimonies were strengthened. Our camp director is an awesome woman and she truly blessed our lives. The theme for camp was "finding your happily ever after" and I came home spiritually revived and ready to face this next year with a new perspective. We faced everything from snakes, bears and HORRIBLE thunderstorms and we all made it out stronger than when we left. My mom came up to take care of my girls and they had a blast! Thanks mom!I have been blessed. Thanks girls for an AWESOME week!

Sufficiently humbled

I am SO incredibly busy today, but I had to take a minute to write down what I just witnessed... I thought I would put it on here for all to enjoy! A little while ago I caught Melissa in a WHOPPER of a lie (one of her first times lying!!) and I called my mom to tell her about it. Not even 2 minutes after getting off the phone with her I heard the following from my girls who were playing church. Melissa said, "Kayla, it is time to bear our testimonies. Come up here to the podium with me. Now say this. I would like to bear my testimony that I know this church is true. I know that Jesus loves me. I am thankful for my blessings. I am thankful for my family. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen." Kayla repeated what she said word for word. Needless to say, I called my mom back a little teary eyed to relate this. Now, I need to go and get my monkeys out of my make-up!

THE talk...

Today I had to have THE talk with Melissa. You know the one. The talk that traumatizes your children. I had to explain to Melissa where Chicken comes from. Oh, yes... you read that properly. She now knows the truth. This is how it went down......... This afternoon I was putting the silverware away and Melissa said, "Mommy, how do the chickens make what we eat?" Silence from my end. So Melissa said, "Mommy how do the chickens make the chicken?" It is at this point that I realized that Melissa has thought that little chickens work in some sort of factory or something to make the chicken that we eat!! So, unable to look at her for fear I will cry while I explain where chicken comes from, I continue to put the silverware away and say, "Sweetheart, (that makes it better bless her heart!) chickens don't make the chicken that we eat. We eat the actual chickens." Silence on her end. I looked up at her for a second and see that she is thinking this over. She said, "Do we eat the heads?" I told her that we do not eat the heads. She asked if we eat the butts. I said no... but that we do eat the belly and legs. She thought that was hilarious. THEN she said, "well, do we eat the boobies???" At this point I am laughing out loud and said, "Yes we do! That part is called chicken breasts!" She and I laughed and laughed at the whole bit! I think I was more traumatized than she was! Whew! One major talk down... about 300 to go!

Family Reunion 2008

This is a LONG video of our recent family reunion. We had SO much fun reconnecting with family. Thanks for the memories!
